For Eleonore (Water Music II)
Data driven audio installation.

The robot follows a graphical representaion of the Danube water quality tests and plays fragments of Handel’s Water Music.

A sequencer controls eight oscilators. The tone of each oscilator depends on electrolytic processes in the Danube water test probes.

Making Kaiser Schmarrn in a galley, with only limited utensils and pots and pans is quite challenging.

My studio on the Eleonore will be part of Norbert Artner’s studio series.  This afternoon Norbert Artner came to see me on the Eleonore and took photos of my studio there. We had coffee and a nice chat about David Hockney’s  Secret Knowledge: Rediscovering the Lost Techniques of the Old Masters.

Storm damage

We had a storm last night. Suddenly the winds were tough and the waves were unusual high.

The workshop was very interesting. We were seven people. We built an electronic musical instrument. Unfortunately I couldn’t finish mine but Sybille from the Stadtwerkstatt completed it for me. Afterwards we played a concert.

Today Anja brought a Zille. It is typical barge on the Danube. Now we are motorized and are looking forward to trips on the river

Until now I only knew capsizing from my on board reading.

KH roped me in to write for the Eleonore blog. First, hey free holiday, then, you have to earn your keep. So here I am.

Yesterday I broke the water supply. Problem is I was to embarrassed to tell and they had to figure it out themselves. Meanwhile I was in town and got my hair cut.

The washing water is filtered rain water that gets collected in a tank. Every now and then we have manually to pump it into the supply tank. When pumping it’s important to open the valve because when you forget that the tube disconnects, air gets into the system and everything fails to work. To repair it one has to remove the air. And that is what the boys did while I was in town.
